After a solid career as a therapist and coach, she created her first Hypnotherapy Diploma course in 2005, which was independently accredited by The General Hypnotherapy Standards Council and The Hypnotherapy Association. In 2006 she started to deliver NLP practitioner training after being certified as an NLP trainer by John Grinder, co-creator of NLP. She went on to gain “accredited trainer” status with The Association of NLP International.
In 2011 she ran her first coaching course which was approved by the Association for Coaching and recognised as a development programme by The Institute of Leadership and Management. In addition to running the Hummingbird Effect Academy Denise has also been a guest lecturer at The University of Essex Business School. She also designs and delivers a variety of programs for organisations. She even delivered an NLP practitioner and Master practitioner program for Turkish business people in Istanbul, (via a translator!).
While Denise is highly respected and regarded as one of the best in the “self development and improvement arena” her understanding is not merely theoretical. Born into a working class family in South East London, she left school with few formal qualifications. She was married for the first time at 18, had her first child at 20 and was a single parent living on state benefits by the age of 21.
Miserable, unfulfilled and feeling as if she had failed to reach her potential she was prompted by her father to stop feeling sorry for herself and “go and do an evening class or something!”
As a result she started an enduring love affair with education, self improvement and overcoming adversity which lead her to go back to study for a degree (being the first person in her family to attend university). She had two children at the beginning of the three year full time course and three by the end of it!
Her qualifications now include; an MSc in Coaching from The University of East London, an upper second class honors degree BSc in Social Sciences from South Bank University, an RSA teaching & learning in adult education, an Open University management studies certificate, a Diploma in analytical and cognitive hypnotherapy and psychotherapy. She is an NLP practitioner, NLP master practitioner and NLP trainer, certified by NLP co-creator John Grinder and accredited by The ANLP. Known for a unique combination of extensive knowledge and professional expertise combined with a straight talking, down to earth approach, Denise knows how to get the very best out of people; whoever they are and whatever they want.
The family stuff
Denise has been married to her “current” husband, John for 30 years. They moved from London to Chelmsford in 1992. After 20 years in the same family home they relocated to the village of Tiptree where they now live in “Rainbow Cottage” with their two crazy dogs. Denise and John have 3 wonderful grown up offspring and two fabulous grandchildren.
